SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) – Um jovem líder indígena foi encontrado morto na manhã deste sábado (27) em uma comunidade que faz parte do território Laklãnõ/Xokleng, em Santa Catarina.
Com marcas de violência e queimaduras, o corpo de Ariel Paliano, 26, estava às margens da rodovia que liga os municípios de Doutor Pedrinho e Itaiópolis, a 300 metros de distância da casa em que morava, na aldeia Kakupli.
Segundo a Apib (Articulação dos Povos Indígenas do Brasil), a região em que o corpo foi encontrado faz parte de uma área retomada pelos indígenas.
“O caso ocorre em meio a conflitos entre a comunidade Xokleng e fazendeiros locais, que têm ameaçado as terras Xokleng”, diz nota conjunta da Apib e da Ajix (Juventude Indígena Xokleng).
As organizações indígenas afirmam que a família da vítima recebeu ameaças recentemente, inclusive com disparos de tiros que não atingiram ninguém, mas levaram temor à comunidade.
A Apib e a Ajix pedem urgência na adoção de medidas de segurança e direitos indígenas.
“Esse evento é mais um lembrete sombrio das ameaças persistentes enfrentadas pelos povos indígenas e da necessidade contínua de proteger seus direitos e vidas”, afirma a nota.
Ariel estava sozinho em casa enquanto a mãe e o padrasto participavam de atividades do ATL (Acampamento Terra Livre) em Brasília.
De acordo com a Apib, policiais federais estão no local do crime para investigar o ocorrido.
O Cimi (Conselho Indigenista Missionário) informou que a notícia sobre o crime surpreendeu e levou dor à delegação Xokleng que voltava de Brasília após a mobilização no ATL.
“Enquanto os povos indígenas estão na capital federal mobilizados de forma democrática e legítima em defesa de seus direitos, recebendo da parte do Estado morosidade palavras traiçoeiras, nos territórios tradicionais a violência é rápida, ideológica e letal”, diz nota da organização.
Segundo o Cimi, nos últimos meses são recorrentes os atentados a tiros na região.
Na véspera da Páscoa, ao menos seis tiros foram disparados contra uma moradia na aldeia Kakupli. Quatro pessoas dormiam na residência no momento dos disparos, mas ninguém ficou ferido.
